Taking a dose of cleansing from a jar feels different than pumping from your usual bottle. What is particularly striking about Arencia is this soft, kneadable texture. The word “mochi” describes its character – a bit like an elastic paste that only becomes a cleaning foam with water.

It’s easy to confuse two similar-looking jars: some contain a cleanser, others a serum gel. So I wouldn’t rely on the color alone when I pick it up on the shelf. The full name reveals whether the product is rinsed off or left on the skin.

What kind of brand is Arencia?

Arencia is a Korean cosmetics brand. The Korean brand name is called Arencia, based in Seoul. The own brand story focuses on craftsmanship, plant ingredients and special textures.

The brand describes a multi-stage manufacturing process for its mochi cleansers with kneading and longer processing. This is part of their product history. Something very everyday is also important when making your selection: How can the paste be spread with water, how thoroughly can it be rinsed off and how does your skin feel afterwards?

“Natural” or “with lots of plants” does not answer these questions. A plant-based formulation can also contain fragrances. That’s why we’re looking at two cleansing variants and a serum gel separately.

Fresh Green Rice Mochi Cleanser: Cleansing with water

The Fresh Green Rice Mochi Cleanser is a foaming facial cleanser. The shop list includes glycerin and detergent substances such as sodium cocoyl isethionate and sodium cocoyl glycinate. There are also rice and green tea components, almond components, cellulose and fragrance.

The manufacturer’s instructions start with a small amount that is foamed with water. It is then gently massaged over the face and rinsed thoroughly with lukewarm water. This helps to understand the texture: The paste is not intended to be pushed around on the skin as dry as possible and with a lot of pressure.

It is best to remove them so that no wet fingers or water residue remains in the jar. A clean spatula can make portioning easier. If you’ve been using a very liquid cleanser, this format may need an application or two until you find your right amount.

The Green Cleanser is also a different product than the newer variants with LHA in the name. Similar colors or the word “Rice” are no reason to equate their use and ingredients.

Does the paste remove blackheads?

Cleansing can remove excess sebum and residue from the skin’s surface. However, a cleaner skin feeling after washing does not mean that every visible pore is empty. Pores are part of the skin, and small dots on the nose can also be normal sebum threads.

With Arencia, I would therefore not aim for a particularly long massage or repeated washing until the nose looks completely smooth in the magnifying mirror. Instead, you can focus on whether the cleanser can be rinsed off easily and whether the skin remains pleasant afterwards. If your skin is sensitive to friction or exfoliation, a texture-rich cleanser may not be a good fit. The AAD recommends taking skin condition and tendency to irritation into account when using peeling methods . More friction does not mean a reliably better care effect.

Fresh Rosehip Mochi Cleanser: a different recipe

The Fresh Rosehip Mochi Cleanser also uses the paste format. In addition to the detergent ingredients, the verified shop list contains rose hip, aloe and chamomile extract. You can also find almond and rice powder as well as perfume here.

The brand aims this variant particularly at people who want pleasant cleansing for dry or sensitive skin. This is a product orientation, not a promise that all sensitive skin can tolerate it. This variant also contains perfume.

The application remains manageable: lather with water, distribute gently and rinse thoroughly. You don’t need to also use the green cleanser. There are two alternatives for the same cleaning step.

Both are described by the manufacturer as washable masks. To get started, I would first get to know them in their normal cleaning function. A longer contact time is not necessary to determine whether you can handle the texture. If you want to try out a mask, the instructions for your specific variant apply; This does not turn a cleanser into overnight care.

Holy Hyssop Serum 30: This jar stays on the skin

The Holy Hyssop Serum 30 is a gel-like serum in a jar. Here you take a small amount to apply after cleansing and, if necessary, toner. It is distributed and remains on the skin. The manufacturer specifically describes removal and application, not rinsing.

The shop list includes glycerin, niacinamide, hyssop extract and various hyaluronic ingredients. There are also several forms of vitamin C. The brand identity summarizes some of its ingredients as “Vitamin ACE Complex”. Such a complex name is not an indication of how much of each individual form of vitamin is contained in the finished product.

That’s why I would initially use the number 30 in the name to differentiate the products and not use it to calculate a concentration or personal dose. The Holy Hyssop Serum 12, also offered, is a different variant.

A place in your existing routine
