Scalp serum: where do you apply it and does it stay in your hair?
When we think of hair care, we quickly think of shiny lengths. The skin underneath often only gets attention when washing. A scalp serum is applied specifically to where the hair grows. Whether you want an additional step like this depends on what you are missing from your current care routine. A scalp that feels comfortable with its shampoo does not automatically need another ampoule.
Scalp and hair lengths require different grips
Use your fingers to part a part so that you can reach the skin. Distribute the product in the intended areas and work it in gently with your fingertips. If the majority ends up in the hair, the application can be dosed more specifically next time. Conditioners and many hair masks, on the other hand, are primarily used in the lengths and are rinsed out; Our article on Korean hair care for the scalp and lengths explains the difference.
Dry, wet or for rinsing?
The name “scalp serum” does not consistently define this. Check your bottle’s instructions: They should dictate when and how you use the product. Leave-in care does not require rinsing. It stays on the scalp after application. If it specifically states a contact time followed by rinsing, this step is included. The respective product instructions also apply to dry or towel-dried hair.
This is how the ampoule from VT Cosmetics works
The VT Cosmetics PDRN Reedle Shot Hair Ampoule 100dL has an applicator for the scalp. You unlock the rotating mechanism at the bottom, place the tip specifically and press the button to dispense. Then work in gently and lock the closure again. In the instructions from VT there is no rinsing step provided; The application there does not specify a fixed requirement for “dry” or “moist”. Therefore, also pay attention to the instructions on your packaging.
This ampoule contains, among other things, alcohol denat., caffeine and silica. Especially if your scalp reacts sensitively, it’s worth doing a short tolerance test in advance; VT recommends a limited area for this, such as behind the ear. The product should not be used on open skin areas. The manufacturer also recommends against co-use with devices that use heat, light or additional stimulation. If your scalp is persistently itchy, painful or the hair loss has changed significantly, a dermatological classification is more helpful than further serums on suspicion.
