A set with small bottles arouses curiosity. Maybe you’re looking for something for your travel bag, want to get to know a brand or want to make someone happy. Before you decide on the pretty combination, it’s worth taking a look at a simple question: Which of these products would you actually use?

A travel set lets you get to know several steps of a brand without having to put bottles of the same size in the bathroom. If you are particularly curious about serums, a serum trial set brings more variety to exactly this care step.

What does “skincare set” actually mean?

There can be very different combinations behind the name. Some sets combine cleaning and care, others contain several variations of the same step. Travel sizes, on the other hand, say something about the size of the packaging. They don’t yet reveal whether this covers your morning and evening care.

SKIN1004 Travel Kit: several care steps in small sizes

The SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Travel Kit contains five products: Light Cleansing Oil with 30 ml, Ampoule Foam with 20 ml as well as Toning Toner, Centella Ampoule and Soothing Cream with 30 each ml. So you get cleaning and several subsequent care steps in one go.

This is interesting if you want to get to know these products or take familiar care with you in smaller packaging. However, sunscreen is not included. This step must be planned separately for the morning routine.

Even the two cleaners included do not mean that you should clean twice every time. Whether you use cleansing oil and a water-based cleanser together depends on makeup, sun protection, and how your skin feels, among other things. Hanbang Serum Discovery Kit: four serums to get to know

The Beauty of Joseon Hanbang Serum Discovery Kit has a different idea. It contains four serums of 10 ml each: Calming Serum Green Tea + Panthenol, Glow Serum Propolis + Niacinamide, Glow Deep Serum Rice + Alpha-Arbutin and Revive Serum Ginseng + Snail Mucin.

Here you choose between different serums. This does not replace cleansing, cream and sun protection. The set is therefore more suitable for trying out an additional care step than for building a complete routine from scratch.

You don’t have to open the four bottles at the same time or stack them on top of each other. Start with the serum that interests you most and leave the rest of the care familiar for now. This way you can better observe how the new texture feels under your cream. When are small sizes worthwhile?

Minis primarily help to get to know packaging, texture and application. A small bottle does not promise a specific number of vacation days and no proof of effectiveness after a few uses. How long it lasts depends on the product and the amount you use.

To compare prices, look at how much you expect to use in addition to the total quantity. A large set will not automatically be cheaper for you if several products are left unopened. And when giving as a gift, the recipient’s favorite cream or texture is often a better indication than the number of items included.

After unpacking

Open new care gradually and keep the application instructions. For the Beauty of Joseon serums, the manufacturer recommends a cool, dark place without direct sun. The small size does not make them insensitive to heat on the windowsill or in the parked car.
