Applying sunscreen over makeup: What options do you have?
The foundation still fits nicely, but you have a long afternoon outside ahead of you. Then reapplying quickly becomes a trade-off between sun protection and make-up. Unfortunately, a technology that leaves every foundation unchanged and automatically achieves the specified protection cannot be promised.
Start with your own layer of sun protection in the morning before putting on your make-up. The sun protection factor on foundation or cushion does not simply replace this application: the usual amount of make-up is often smaller than the amount tested for protection. The Skin Cancer Foundation explains this limit . You can find out more about the difference in textures at BB Cream and Cushion .
Reapply the cream – with room for corrections
With clean hands you can also apply sunscreen again. As a practical approach, you can work on the face in sections so you can keep track of the amount and areas reached. This is not a proven method to guarantee SPF over any foundation; Rubbing or blotting can alter makeup.
The key remains to apply enough product evenly. A few decorative dabs on the nose and cheeks are no substitute for a full application. If a full-coverage foundation makes this difficult, it is often easier to remove make-up from affected areas, reapply sunscreen and then correct the make-up. It’s better to plan this little break for a long day outside.
The SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF50+ PA++++ is a sun protection example from our range. It is impossible to predict whether its texture will harmonize with your foundation. Even with a familiar product, the current instructions remain relevant.
Are stick or powder lighter?
A stick is handy, but also requires sufficient product and overlapping strips. When in contact with the skin, it can dislodge makeup. The TOCOBO Vita Waterproof Sun Stick shows this format; This does not guarantee tested compatibility with your foundation.
Sunscreen powder can be used as a supplement over make-up. However, the Skin Cancer Foundation does not recommend it as sole protection. The fact that the shine has disappeared does not indicate whether a sufficient amount of UV protection was applied.
Outside, rewinding occurs about every two hours, and sooner after swimming or heavy sweating. Shade and a hat can make the day even easier. The basic instructions on amount and application of sun protection also apply if you are wearing make-up. If some foundation has to be removed, it can be added later.
