Alpha-Arbutin: What can the ingredient do in your skincare?

You will mainly encounter alpha-arbutin in serums for a more even-looking complexion. It can influence the formation of the skin pigment melanin and is therefore used in care for visible pigment differences. Alpha-arbutin and the beta-arbutin known as arbutin are related, chemically different forms. It is therefore worth taking a close look at Alpha-Arbutin on the ingredients list.

In the COSRX The Alpha-Arbutin 2 Discoloration Care Serum , the manufacturer mentions 2 percent alpha-arbutin; The formula also contains niacinamide and tranexamic acid. So it’s a combination. A few drops are added to the cream after cleansing and, if necessary, toner. Start with a small amount so you can get the feel of it and add sunscreen in the morning.

Not every spot has the same cause, and a serum does not remove sunken scars. Our article about pimple marks and pigment spots helps you distinguish between them. You can find out more about the material itself at COSMILE Europe .

Statutory guarantee

Official EU notice on the statutory guarantee. The full text follows below the graphic. Link to Your Europe, opens in a new tab.

Text of the EU notice

At least two years of statutory guarantee of conformity for goods sold in the European Union.

Consumers can assert their rights under the statutory guarantee, for example if the goods

  • do not correspond to the description,
  • do not function as intended.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity that existed at the time of delivery of the goods and becomes apparent within the statutory guarantee period. In such cases sellers must offer:

  • free repair or free replacement,
  • in certain cases a price reduction or a full refund of the purchase price.

Some countries apply a longer statutory guarantee period. For second-hand goods a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.

For more information about your rights in a particular country, scan the QR code below or ask the seller.

What to do if you receive goods that do not conform?

  1. Report the problem to the seller as soon as possible.
  2. Provide proof of purchase, such as the receipt, invoice or a bank statement.

Sellers and manufacturers may also offer commercial guarantees that apply independently of the statutory guarantee. This GARAN label, for example, shows that the manufacturer grants a commercial durability guarantee at no extra cost that covers the whole product.
