Algae in care: What is behind Laminaria?

You will encounter algae in very different care products. The name alone doesn’t reveal much: there are different types and also different extracts from them. Laminaria Japonica Extract, for example, refers to an extract from the Kombu algae. It is used in cosmetics as a skin-protecting ingredient; However, no specific effect of the finished product can be derived from this.

In the Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist , this algae extract is on the ingredient list alongside green tea water, glycerin and panthenol. If you like spraying on light moisturizer, the texture might be for you. After cleaning, two to three sprays are applied from a distance of around 20 centimeters. Keep your eyes closed and let the fine mist arrive briefly before applying your further care.

Statutory guarantee

Official EU notice on the statutory guarantee. The full text follows below the graphic. Link to Your Europe, opens in a new tab.

Text of the EU notice

At least two years of statutory guarantee of conformity for goods sold in the European Union.

Consumers can assert their rights under the statutory guarantee, for example if the goods

  • do not correspond to the description,
  • do not function as intended.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity that existed at the time of delivery of the goods and becomes apparent within the statutory guarantee period. In such cases sellers must offer:

  • free repair or free replacement,
  • in certain cases a price reduction or a full refund of the purchase price.

Some countries apply a longer statutory guarantee period. For second-hand goods a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.

What to do if you receive goods that do not conform?

  1. Report the problem to the seller as soon as possible.
  2. Provide proof of purchase, such as the receipt, invoice or a bank statement.

Sellers and manufacturers may also offer commercial guarantees that apply independently of the statutory guarantee. This GARAN label, for example, shows that the manufacturer grants a commercial durability guarantee at no extra cost that covers the whole product.
