After showering, on dry shins or in between for the hands: Lee helps you to incorporate body lotion and body cream into your everyday life.

Korean body care: What arms, legs and hands need

The face is creamed, the hair is combed, and it’s only when you get dressed that you notice that your shins are tense. Body care often gets the space left in the bathroom after everything else. It’s easy to attach yourself to a moment that’s already there: drying off after the shower.

Having the right lotion or cream within reach makes this little transition easier. The texture that feels comfortable can vary on the arms, elbows and hands. You can therefore choose Korean body care just as carefully as you do for your face.

After showering, there is a good moment to apply cream

For dry skin, the American Academy of Dermatology recommends short showers with warm water, about five to ten minutes. Then gently pat the skin and apply cream while it is still slightly damp. This helps retain moisture in the skin. AAD: Tips for dry skin

Slightly damp skin can be easily achieved if you grab the towel straight away to care for it. Place the closed bottle or jar so that you remember to dry it, and then put it back in its dry storage location.

If you regularly use lotion in the morning between breakfast and the front door, it might be a better fit for your evening shower. In our morning and evening routine you will find the same idea for facial care: the routine must fit into your day.

Body lotion or body cream: How would you like to feel afterwards?

A lotion is usually easier to spread over larger areas. A cream is typically thicker and richer. If the dryness is severe, the AAD recommends a cream or ointment; The finished recipe and the personal feeling on the skin remain important for the selection. AAD: Choosing a moisturizer

Maybe you want to get into your clothes quickly after applying the cream and therefore prefer a lighter texture. Maybe you like your legs to feel a little more nourished in the evening. This makes applying lotion a moment that you can look forward to after the shower.

The same applies to body care: what is comfortable on the upper arms may be too much on the palms. You can choose the quantity and the areas cared for accordingly. If you’re torn between similar textures, our post about which moisturizer suits your skin will also help.

Rich cream or light lotion for after the shower

COSRX Skin Barrier Moisturizing Body Cream

The COSRX Skin Barrier Moisturizing Body Cream with 450 ml is expressly intended for body care. COSRX lists arms, legs, elbows and hands as areas of application. The ingredients list includes glycerin, petrolatum, panthenol, squalane and five ceramides. COSRX: Body Cream and Application

The manufacturer describes a rich cream and recommends gently spreading a generous amount onto dry areas. If necessary, a further layer can be applied to individual, particularly dry areas.

The large jar is ideal for post-shower care: apply it to your legs and arms and take a moment extra to dry your elbows.

ILLIYOON Ceramide Ato Lotion

The ILLIYOON Ceramide Ato Lotion with 350 ml offers a lighter lotion texture for the face and body. Ingredients include glycerin, squalane, madecassoside and ceramide NP. The manufacturer confirms that no perfume is added; It is still possible that the components have their own smell. ILLIYOON: Ceramide Ato Lotion

It is gently distributed in sufficient quantity onto the desired parts of the body. This is an alternative if you prefer a more liquid consistency in your daily body care.

Elbows and shins may receive extra attention

You do not need to distribute the same amount over the entire body with each use. Notice where the skin feels dry and consciously work on these areas when applying cream. It’s easy to forget about the elbows because you hardly see them.

Spread the cream in several small portions over the desired area. Before you add more, check whether the first portion has already been distributed evenly. For the shins, take a moment and spread the treatment down to the ankles if the skin feels dry there too.

You will encounter ceramides in both examples. Our Ceramide article explains their role in skin care. To use the body cream, you don’t have to be able to distinguish between the individual names.

Hands are cared for in between

Hands are washed more often than arms and legs. A single portion of care in the evening does not always fit into your everyday life. The AAD recommends applying cream to dry hands after washing on skin that is still slightly damp, taking into account fingertips and nails. AAD: Caring for dry hands after washing

Easily accessible care at the sink is often more helpful than a particularly extensive evening routine. If you want to touch paper or work on your laptop straight away, choose a level of care that makes this possible. You can schedule a more extensive application at a quieter moment.

According to the manufacturer, the COSRX body cream is also intended for hands. Your own additional hand cream makes sense especially if its smaller packaging suits you better when you’re on the go or at work.

If there are painful cracks, persistent redness or severe itching, have the cause clarified by a professional. Such conditions may require more attention than another body lotion can provide. The AAD explains possible hand problems without you having to classify yourself based on a list.

Short sleeves include sun protection

When you are outside, the backs of your hands, forearms or legs are also exposed to the sun. Consider these points when it comes to protective clothing and sun protection. The AAD expressly points out not to forget your hands when your skin is uncovered. AAD: Skin care for the hands

How much sun protection is necessary and when to reapply is explained in our sun protection guide . Your regular body cream will only perform this step if it is actually formulated as a sunscreen with appropriate labeling.
