Squalane: What is it – and is squalene the same?

When it comes to squalane and squalene, a single letter actually makes a difference. Squalene is found, among other things, in skin sebum and has chemical double bonds; Squalane is the saturated, related compound. As a clear, odorless oil component, squalane makes the skin supple . The ingredients list says Squalane . You can’t tell its origin from this alone, because the raw material can be obtained in different ways.

Is squalane better than hyaluronic acid? The two fulfill different tasks: hyaluronic binds water, squalane complements the care as a smoothing oil component. They can therefore easily appear in the same routine. Which moisturizer is right for you depends on how rich or light you like to wear it.

The VT Cosmetics Squalane S4 Moisture Ampoule contains squalane in a ready-made serum formula with, among other things, glycerin and panthenol. Apply a few drops to the face after cleansing and an optional toner; This is followed by your cream. This way you can get to know the ingredient without having to start with a pure oil.

Statutory guarantee

Official EU notice on the statutory guarantee. The full text follows below the graphic. Link to Your Europe, opens in a new tab.

Text of the EU notice

At least two years of statutory guarantee of conformity for goods sold in the European Union.

Consumers can assert their rights under the statutory guarantee, for example if the goods

  • do not correspond to the description,
  • do not function as intended.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity that existed at the time of delivery of the goods and becomes apparent within the statutory guarantee period. In such cases sellers must offer:

  • free repair or free replacement,
  • in certain cases a price reduction or a full refund of the purchase price.

Some countries apply a longer statutory guarantee period. For second-hand goods a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.

What to do if you receive goods that do not conform?

  1. Report the problem to the seller as soon as possible.
  2. Provide proof of purchase, such as the receipt, invoice or a bank statement.

Sellers and manufacturers may also offer commercial guarantees that apply independently of the statutory guarantee. This GARAN label, for example, shows that the manufacturer grants a commercial durability guarantee at no extra cost that covers the whole product.
