Get to know Round Lab: What’s behind Dokdo and Birch Juice?
On Round Lab packaging you will see small landscapes, water and birch trees. The names Dokdo and Birch Juice quickly stick in your head. A pretty practical question then arises in front of the shelf: What is which product for?
You can get to know the two series well without having to change the entire care system. A light toner shows one side of the brand, a sunscreen another. What they have in common is their connection to Korean raw materials; They get very different places in the routine.
Where does Round Lab come from?
Round Lab is a South Korean skin care brand. Behind it is the Chuncheon-based Seorin Company, which is mentioned on the Korean brand website. The range draws on ingredients and places from Korea: sea water at Dokdo, birch sap at Birch Juice and other plants in other ranges.
This gives the products a clearly recognizable story. When making your selection, it is still worth taking a look at the full recipe. A plant name does not reveal how rich a cream is or whether a particular type of skin can handle it. Even within the same brand, the products can differ significantly.
Dokdo: a series all about seawater
The 1025 Dokdo series includes various care steps. Round Lab connects them with deep sea water from the Ulleungdo area. The numbers and the series name are initially an orientation in the range; they do not replace the product name behind them. A Dokdo Cleanser is washed off, a Dokdo Toner remains on the skin.
The Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner has a watery, light texture. In addition to sea water, the published list of ingredients includes glycerin, betaine, panthenol and allantoin. This gives a more concrete picture than the idea of simply putting sea water on your face.
You can spread it gently with clean hands after cleaning. A thin layer is enough to get to know each other. If your current cream already provides pleasant care, an additional toner is not mandatory. And if toner, essence and serum get mixed up when sorting: our article about toner and essence helps to tell their tasks apart.
Birch Juice: Birch juice in various products
“Birch Juice” means birch sap. The manufacturer assigns the raw material for its Birch series to Inje birch trees. Here too, the name describes a product family: It includes different formulations, not just sun creams.
By the way, juice and extract are not arbitrarily interchangeable terms. An extract may involve other plant parts and manufacturing processes. If you would like to read more about it on the back, you will find a short explanation in our Quick knowledge about birch extract and birch sap .
With the Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++ in the shop, care and UV protection come together. The recipe published there contains birch sap, niacinamide, glycerin and hyaluronic acid in addition to the UV filters. The light protection comes from the tested sun cream with its filter system. Birch sap alone is not sunscreen.
How do toner and sunscreen go together?
The Dokdo toner is available after cleaning if necessary. The Birch Juice sunscreen is used in the morning at the end of your skin care routine, before make-up. A cream fits in between if your skin needs it. Whether it comes from Round Lab or another brand doesn’t make the routine an inappropriate mix.
If you often lack time in the morning, start with the step you are actually looking for. A comfortable sunscreen can complement an existing routine. A toner, on the other hand, is interesting if you like a light additional layer of moisture. You don’t have to buy both to get to know the brand.
When it comes to sun protection, sufficient application and follow-up cream remain important. A sparingly dabbed amount does not automatically achieve the protection on the tube. The detailed orientation on SPF, UVA and the use in everyday life helps to translate the labeling into a usable daily routine.
Which deserves a second look if you have sensitive skin
According to Shop-INCI, the sun cream also contains pine leaf oil and Roman chamomile flower oil. Anyone who has not tolerated such fragrances or plant ingredients should check the list of ingredients accordingly. No guarantee of compatibility can be derived from the birch on packaging.
When reordering, compare the full product name and labeling. For example, on the American manufacturer’s website there is a Birch UVLock version with SPF 45; Here we discuss the SPF-50+-PA++++ variant offered in the shop. Similar looking tubes do not have to contain the same formula.
